Speak Up Speak Out

School safety and the wellbeing of our students and staff are our top priorities.  We recently have implemented SPEAK UP, SPEAK OUT.  This system was created by the Department of Justice (DOJ) Office of School Safety (OSS).  Speak Up Speak Out is a comprehensive, one-stop place to turn with important concerns.  Students, parents, school staff, or any community members can submit a school safety concern or threat via our website, their website (https://speakup.widoj.gov/) mobile phone application (available on their website), or toll-free number (available on their website).  Staff work around-the-clock to respond to tips and to deploy a response locally by communicating directly with school administrators, law enforcement, and counselors.

About Us

Hello and welcome to Winneconne Elementary School!

My name is Lisa Hughes and I am the principal here at WES.  I have worked in the district for the past 31 years (10 years as elementary teacher, 6 years as middle school teacher, and 15 years as principal). We have an awesome school with almost 900 students, about 70 teachers and 22 teacher assistants.  We work hard to build a cohesive and friendly environment where everybody is appreciated for his/her unique talents and abilities.

We all work together to follow the Winneconne Way.  We celebrate students of the month with popcorn with the principal, pizza with the principal, and PAW slips.  Students earn PAW slips for showing the Winneconne Way anywhere around school.

P=Practice kindness

A=Always show respect

W=Work to do your best

We have team building days once per month so students have the opportunity to work together and build relationships with each other.  We all love our team building activities/days!  WES is a great place to learn and grow.
